Fundación Mapfre, Spain and the Phillips Collection, Washington, DC present the first ever travelling exhibition dedicated to the North American Art from the birth of Modernism to post-war painting.

Made in USA opens in Madrid on 6 October. The major show gathers a selection of 91 works by 62 landmark American painters such as Homer, Whistler, Pollock, Hopper, Motherwell and Rothko.

Known mostly for its European Modern Art collections, the Phillips Collection has been a great promoter of American art since it opened in 1921. It is regarded as the first public museum of Modern Art in America.

Made in USA opens at the Fundación Mapfre’s Recoletos site at the heart of Madrid's buzzing art district. It runs from 6 October until 16 January 2011. Entry is FREE.
