World Class: The Düsseldorf School of Painting
This autumn, the Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf is showcasing works from the city’s renowned School of Painting, not seen by the public for over 30 years.
Bringing together works from the museum's own holdings and internationally renowned collections, the exhibition demonstrates the talent and diversity of the artists involved in the renowned art school during the 19th century. The show includes some 450 paintings created between 1819 and 1918.
From the 1820s onwards the Düsseldorf Art Academy became known as one of Europe’s most important art schools, drawing talented artists from across Germany and abroad.
What started then continues today - Düsseldorf continues to have a lively art scene of international significance.
The exhibition runs from 24 September until 22 January 2012.
