Yinka Shonibare curates show in Monaco
The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM) is about to unveil its hidden treasures to the public of Monaco and around the world, with a brand new exhibition curated by acclaimed artist Yinka Shonibare, MBE.
Looking up...™ at Villa Sauber is set to open on 8 June. The exhibition brings together scale models, sculptures, photographs and video by the artist. By presenting his own works, leads the public to rediscover the rarely or never displayed collections which form the history of the Monaco's Art.
Under the NMNM logo are two exceptional venues. The Villa Sauber will focus on Art and Performance, with a series of exhibitions bringing contemporary artists to look again at the heritage collections of the principality under the title Looking Up. Art and Territory is the theme at Villa Paloma, offering a contemporary artist the opportunity to develop a specific project in the space and gardens.
By presenting two exhibitions a year at each site, the NMNM aims to champion contemporary art whilst embracing the Principality’s artistic heritage. Monte Carlo was and remains today the home of artistic life and is particularly famous for performing arts.
