The Opéra National de Paris is presenting a brand new opera created by celebrated artist Anselm Kiefer from 7 to 14 July 2009.

Entitled Am Anfang (In the Beginning), the opera was commissioned Gerard Mortier, Director of the Opéra National de Paris in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Opera Bastille.

Anselm Kiefer is responsible for the entire opera, including staging, sets and costumes. The score is composed by musician Jörg Widmann. The result is a remarkable visual and musical experience, reflecting the vitality and creativity of the Parisian music venue.
