Only 8 days left to visit Daniel Buren’s Monumenta

There are only eight days left to visit Daniel Buren’s Excentrique(s), travail in situ at the Grand Palais, Paris.

Filling the Nave of the French capital’s iconic glass-roofed building, Daniel Buren’s colourful, exuberant work was commissioned for the fifth edition of Monumenta, an annual event organised by the French Ministry of Culture.

Adrian Searle, Chief Art Critic for The Guardian (UK), commented in a review of the work, “Rather than "contesting" the architecture or "challenging" the viewer, Buren's work is at the mercy of the light from the Paris sky, the scudding clouds, the slanting sunlight as it enters the building.”

Monumenta opened to the public on 10 May. Throughout the event, special interventions and performances, inspired directly by Daniel’s work, have been happening at the Grand Palais.

This year’s edition of Monumenta will be brought to a dramatic close with the following event:

For a festive, musical finale at MONUMENTA, you are invited to come, dressed solely in white, to immerse yourself in the colours of Daniel Buren and the music of Jamie XX, Caribou and Four Tet!
