Elliott Erwitt exhibition at éléphant Paname

An exhibition of photographs by legendary American photographer Elliott Erwitt is currently on show at Éléphant Paname in Paris. Entitled Personal Best/Personal Choice, the exhibition displays over 80 black and white photographs chosen by the artist himself, spanning the breadth of his career.

Erwitt was born in Paris in 1928 to Jewish-Russian parents. When the family emigrated to America, the young Erwitt had the chance to meet the famous and influential photographers Edward Steichen, Robert Capa and Rob Stryker. Erwitt is known for his ability to capture ironic situations in everyday settings, always with a wry sense of humour. The subjects of his photography range from iconic figures such as John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe to the less glamorous, though frequently photographed, cast of dogs and children.

Éléphant Paname is a newly opened centre dedicated to art and dance, set within a sumptuous Parisian hôtel particulier. Find out more at www.elephantpaname.com

Personal Best/Personal choice will run until 13 January. For more information visit the exhibition minisite.
