Communicating the Musem renews collaboration with ICOM

We are delighted that, for the third year running, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) will be patronising Agenda’s Communicating the Museum conference.

ICOM became institutional partner of CTM in 2010, aiming to offer an opportunity for museum professionals to learn about communications trends in museums, to discuss best practices and tools, and to meet with new people and international colleagues.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM), created in 1946, is the only organisation of museums and museum professionals with a global scope, committed to the promotion and protection of naturaland cultural heritage, present and future, tangible and intangible.

With approximately 30,000 members in 137 countries, ICOM is a unique network of museum professionals acting in a wide range of museum-and heritage-related disciplines. ICOM is officially associated with multilateral international conventions on heritage including UNESCO, WIPO and INTERPOL, in order to carry out its international public service missions. ICOM’s commitment to culture and knowledge promotion is reinforced by its 31 International Committees dedicated to a wide range of museum specialities, who conduct advanced research in their respective fields for the benefit of the museum community. ICOM has the ability to mobilise experts in cultural heritage worldwide in response to the challenges museums face around the globe.

The Agenda team looks forward to welcoming a representative from ICOM to Communicating the Museum this June in New York. During CTM12, delegates will be able to find out more about ICOM’s projects. In particular they will be able to pick up information about the ICOM Triennial General Conference , which is to be held in Rio de Janeiro from 10 to 17 August, 2013.
