This includes all elements related to corporate design including logo, posters, videos and all associated components of their visual identity.

Best exhibition communication

This category encompasses events as well as exhibitions, happenings, special programmes and site-specific installations. Candidates will be assessed on both design and execution of communications campaigns. Applicants are invited to submit any materials related to a campaign promoting an exhibition and/or event. This includes all promotional materials such as print, mixed media, videos and online communication.

Best exhibition layout

The layout of space is key to making an exhibition a success. The judges will be seeking evidence of innovative design and its impact on visitors. They will be looking for excellent design which also enhances the curatorial intent of an exhibition. This award will be a celebration of the art of exhibiting. It encompasses spatial organisation, display, design and lighting.

Best logo

An excellent logo encapsulates an organisation's brand whilst also working as a strong, eye-catching image in its own right. The logo’s ability to convey a clear message, as well as its visual appeal, will be taken into account. This category encompasses institutional logos and their variations (for example when an institution has several venues), exhibition logos or departmental logos.

Best digital campaign

Creativity and flair within the digital realm are vital to a thriving arts organisation. The winner of this category will be awarded for the most innovative design and use of digital technology. Best Digital Campaign encompasses, but is not limited to, multiform online communication such as social media platforms, online videos, apps, flash code, websites and e-publications.

Best innovation

For Best Innovation judges will be looking for innovation in exhibitions, education programmes, community buildings, visitor services or education and outreach initiatives. This category also includes guerrilla-marketing campaigns and new, original ways of communicating on a budget. The winner will have demonstrated the most innovative use of technology and the most creative approach to their particular project or campaign.

Best sustainable campaign

Conducting a communications campaign whilst balancing environmental, social and economic factors can be a challenge. This category aims to champion successful projects whilst inspiring future efforts. The jury will also evaluate the way an organisation shares its values with its visitors and staff. A campaign’s sustainability can be demonstrated through energy efficiency, use of local and/or ethical resources, fair employment and local community opportunities, recycling and fair trade.

Best retail design

The most innovative merchandise display and promotion are celebrated in Best Retail Design. Judges will be looking for excellent displays as well as an innovative selection of products. This award recognises exceptional and exemplary work in design in both on-sight and online stores.
